Social Security

Something that I think is not brought up enough is that the Republicans want to change Social Security for many reasons. To dismantle the Great Society program is one of them. But another aspect is to make government programs more complex and less efficient. By making government less efficient you get people to distrust government programs. By making people think that government programs can never be run well you get them to distrust government which is the underlying conservative philosophy. You get people thinking "government can never do anything well so maybe they shouldn't do anything at all."
